Shaffer and Pursley Score Lucas Oil NOW600 National Series Wins During Inaugural Visit to Airport Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – GARDEN CITY, Kan. (May 26, 2018) – Daniel Shaffer captured his first career Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by MyRacePass feature victory and Daison Pursley posted his ninth career win on Saturday night at Airport Raceway.

More than 65 entries were showcased during the series’ first-ever visit to the track, which is hosting the TBJ Promotions 3rd annual Midget Round Up this weekend.

Shaffer capitalized on drawing the pole position for the 20-lap Stock Non-Wing main event as he held off eighth-starting Jason Friesen for his first series triumph. Hunter Fischer advanced from ninth to third place with Pursley finishing fourth to maintain his lead in the championship standings. Jace McIntosh rounded out the top five.

Pursley, Dave Nicholson, Trey Burke and Shaffer each won a heat race with Gunner Bowden claiming the B Main.

Pursley, who became the first driver in NOW600 Series history to win at least one race in all three premier divisions with a Stock Non-Wing triumph last month, garnered his second Winged ‘A’ Class feature win of the season. Burke earned a runner-up result with McIntosh third, Friesen fourth and points leader Jim Woods fifth.

Spencer Martinez, Brant Woods, Jim Woods, Friesen and Pursley were the heat race winners. Ryder Laplante and Skylar Rhoades both won a B Main.

The event finale, which pays $1,000 to win each of the two Lucas Oil NOW600 National Micro Series main events, is Sunday. The gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. The pill draw is from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Adult tickets are $15. Children ages 12-years-old and younger get in free.
