Bryan Hulbert – BELLEVILLE, Kan. (August 21, 2022) Wrapping up Nebraska Micro Week with a dip into Kansas, the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division rolled to the quarter-mile inside the Belleville High Banks where Frank Flud captured the win in A-Class, while Kale Drake topped Non-Wing, with Jett Nunley victorious in Restricted.

The 66th time that Frank Flud has made the turn into Victory Lane in A-Class National competition, the RUJO No. 81 took off from the right of the front row. Moving around through traffic, Flud had to fend off ninth, starting Tyler Kuykendall through the final few laps, following a multi-lap battle with J.J. Loss.

Working top in one and two, bottom in three and four, the No. 81 adjusted to the lip through the final three laps. Able to put distance back on the No. 8k, Flud captured the win by 1.147-seconds. Tyler Kuykendall ended up second with Loss in third. Jett Nunley climbed to fourth from 16th, with Dominic White in fifth.

Five leaders through 25 laps, it all came down to the final few feet of the Non-Wing A-Feature, with Kale Drake getting it by 0.206-seconds over Tyler Kuykendall. Chasing the No. 8k since Lap 18, Kuykendall had Frank Flud, who led laps 12-16, in pursuit of him as well.

Setting up on Tyler on Lap 21, Drake missed the pass by 0.046-seconds.

There, but having to regroup his run, Drake was there on Lap 23. Closer at 0.028-seconds on Lap 23, the gap was 0.043-seconds with one to go. Glued to the hub of the third and fourth turns, the No. 26k shot straight from the gutter as Kuykendall opened his exit just slightly.

A drag race to the line, Drake was able to clear by 0.206-seconds for his second career Non-Wing score. Tyler Kuykendall held on for second, as Frank Flud was there as well, but would have to settle for third. Corbin Rueschenberg and Jackson Kounkel made up the top five.

Picking up the most wins during Nebraska Micro Week, Jett Nunley went three for four in Restricted A-Feature competition. Leading every lap from the pole, Nunley ran off and hid by 2.723-seconds over Cale Lagroon. Third went to Bradley Cox, with Garyn Howard and Kyler Bearce in fifth.

The next outing for the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division is the Pete Frazier Memorial at Port City Raceway on Friday, September 2, and Saturday, September 3.
